Verification Protocol
To ensure the integrity of carbon credit data and build trust across our ecosystem, Terra Nova requires all Producers to verify ownership or stewardship of the trees they register on the platform. This verification process supports transparency, protects against fraud, and strengthens the credibility of our carbon offset marketplace.
- Farmers, landowners, or stewards uploading tree data for carbon credit generation.
- Organisations or cooperatives acting on behalf of producers.
At least one of the following documents:
- Land ownership certificate or title deed showing the registered owner.
- Lease agreement or stewardship contract if you manage the land but don’t own it.
- Government-issued tree planting certificate or agroforestry registration.
- Utility bill or tax document matching the land location and your name.
- Satellite or geo-tagged photo evidence of the trees, matched with your verified location.
Optional but encouraged:
- Local authority endorsement or NGO verification letter.
- Community witness statement (for cooperative or indigenous projects).
- Upload documents securely via the Terra Nova app user’s profile.
- Our team cross-checks location data, timestamps, and ownership details.
- Verified users receive a “Tree Ownership Verified” badge on their profile and listings.
- Builds trust with carbon credit buyers and investors.
